Ahhhh the sweet joys of staying home. I was given a prompt to make different blends of wine which expressed The Joys of Staying Home. I was interested in the sexier side of being home. I started doing research to see what kind of innuendos existed for sex. I didn’t see anything I liked so I made a huge word list, to try to cross reference words to see if anything sounded good together.

Ever light a couple candles and turn out the lights and have some fun with a lover? Shadow Play was the first name I came up with, with candles and play in mind, my next thought was, “how can i show this without showing it,” well hand shadow puppets! I kept my designs black and white to go along with the suggestive quality of my brand. Just some line work and small uses of black.

I chose Oswald for all the type, aside from the type for the kind of wine. I like that it has a strong, yet
calm and neutral feel to it. For the kind of wine, I chose to use a handwritten font to play off the line
work of my illustrations.

I was given the name Diving Lake Winery and I wanted to take a fantastical approach to the logo. The Loch Ness monster was an easy choice and showing the creature in a wine glass was a fun and easy way to combine the two.
