Art Direction: Stephanie Knopp Deliverables: Digital Catalog
I was given a “blue sky” project in advanced Typography. I’d always wanted to try my hand at designing beer can labels. Harry Style’s Watermelon Sugar music video had recently been released, it started with a dedication to touching. I wanted to create cans that were as sensual and playful as his hit.
There’s a 60’s vibe to the video, so I opted for a retro feeling type for the flavor of the beer. I added a scripted font to accent the flavor of the beer to pick up the sensuality of the song.
For the imagery I chose to heavily manipulate picture of different peoples gentle face. This added depth, liveliness, and a pulse to these pieces.
For the logo, I was inspired by what happens when a light hits a disco ball, and/or I wanted an ethereal look, so a bursting star felt in line with the brand.
